The township
Snow removal Bridgewater NJ sites actually need
Bridgewater is on our Somerset County route with Hillsborough. These are the site types we plan for here.
Highway retail
Shopping centers and pad sites along Route 22 and Routes 202/206, where jug-handle entrances and drive-through lanes are the pinch points.
Office campuses
Corporate and office buildings near I-287 with large lots, structured parking and early-morning arrivals. The lot order follows the badge-in time.
Medical buildings
Outpatient and medical office buildings where patient drop-off, ramps and entrances come first, with refreeze runs through the day.
Event and venue lots
Large lots around venues and the retail hub that need to be clear before a crowd arrives, not after.
How we run it
Big lots, structured parking and early arrivals
Bridgewater sites are large and busy. The plan is about sequence and what happens to the snow afterwards.
Sequenced to arrival times
Campus lots are cleared in the order people arrive — visitor and accessible spaces first.
Parking structure tops and ramps
Top decks and ramps plowed and treated; snow moved off the structure, never piled on it.
Relocation and hauling
When islands and edges fill, snow is relocated or hauled so the lot keeps its count.
Refreeze runs
Return visits for meltwater that refreezes overnight — see ice management.

Local rule
Bridgewater’s sidewalk rule: 12 hours of daylight
Bridgewater updated its snow chapter in 2026, adding duties for multifamily developments.
Deadline
Snow and ice off the abutting sidewalk within 12 hours of daylight, unless the Mayor or Public Works Director sets a longer period in an emergency.
Ice
Ice that can’t be removed is covered with sand, ashes or rock salt within 24 hours.
Multifamily (2026)
Developments of three or more units also clear private roadways and private sidewalks within 12 daylight hours.
If it’s missed
Up to $500 and/or 90 days, with each 24 hours a separate offense. The township can clear public sidewalks and lien the property.

Can you have the lot ready before a campus opens at 7?
That is how the route is built: campus lots are sequenced by arrival time and finished, salted and logged before people badge in.
Do you handle medical buildings differently?
Yes. Patient drop-off, ramps and entrances come first, with refreeze runs through the day — the same approach as our healthcare facility maintenance.
Do you plow the top level of parking decks?
Yes, on private structures. Snow is moved off the deck rather than piled on it, and ramps are treated so they stay drivable.
